Pittsburgh Vocation Fair

By Sisters Kathleen Jancuk and Mary Roy Weiss

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, we — Sisters Mary Roy Weiss, Phyllis McNally and Kathleen Jancuk — traveled from Cumberland, Maryland, to a vocation fair in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This was the first vocation fair that the Diocese of Pittsburgh held since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sponsored by the Pittsburgh Religious Vocation Council, the event included representatives from the diocese and more than 27 men and women religious communities.

It was a wonderful display of community/diocesan spirit; old and new connections were made and future friendships were sparked.

With those who seemed interested, we shared the video of the opening Mass of the 25th General Chapter as well as information about the Associates program.

An SSND banner flanked our table and was replete with take-away material that fed both body (with snack candies) and soul (with booklets about our congregation, fliers about the Atlantic-Midwest province, postcards and bookmarks, ornaments celebrating our 190th anniversary of foundation, and pictures of SSND).

The three of us representing SSND look forward to taking our story and display “on the road” again!
