Students in Gransous, Haiti are learning to cultivate the foods they like. Food sovereignty is the right of peoples to healthy, culturally appropriate food and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems. Beyond Borders is assisting Haitians to do this in ecologically sound and sustainable ways.

Middle East: Pray and Act Now!
Use your Voter Voice in the U.S. to call for peace in the Middle East (include your association with SSND). Pope Francis asks us to “take the side of peace”. He calls for a world day of prayer, fasting and penitence on October 27 and asks for all peoples of the world to participate as they see fit.
The First African American Saints?
Following a multi-year effort of education and Saintly Six Advocacy, spearheaded by St. Ann's Parish in Baltimore, Associate Delores Moore will travel to Rome on Sunday, October 29, as part of the delegation from the Social Justice Committee of the Parish to meet with the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints and, hopefully, Pope Francis, to present the petition for the canonization of six African-American candidates for sainthood:
Mother Mary Lange, Fr Augustus Tolton, Mother Henriette DeLille, Mr. Pierre Toussaint,
Ms. Julia Greeley, and Sr Thea Bowman.
Let us hold Dolores and the delegation in prayer and ask for God’s intervention to enable the right recognition of these individuals.
