Canadian Gospel Fund Recipients Fall 2023

The Canadian Gospel Fund is administered by School Sisters of Notre Dame living in Canada; it operates independently from that in the USA. These are the fund recipients for Fall 2023.

Amnesty International - Ottawa, ON - Conducts research and generates action to prevent and end grave human rights abuses and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated.  

Birthright Organization of Hamilton - Hamilton, ON - Provides confidential, non-judgmental support to any woman who is pregnant or thinks she might be pregnant. Helps with essentials such as pregnancy testing, medical, housing and counseling referrals as well as maternity and baby items. 

Canadian Bible Society - Toronto, ON - Provides Bibles in languages of recipient countries, bringing hope to those in need.

Canadian Red Cross - Ottawa, ON - Helps people and communities in Canada and around the world in times of need and supports them in strengthening their resilience. 

Canadian Wildlife Federation – Kanata, ON - Conserves and inspires the conservation of Canada’s wildlife and habitats. 

Catholic Centre for Immigrants - Ottawa - Ottawa, ON - Promotes and facilitates the reception of newcomers to Canada, and assists newcomers to realize their full potential in Canadian Society. 

Catholic Missions in Canada - Toronto, ON -  Advances and sustains the Catholic faith in Canada through prayer, fundraising, awareness, and education.  

Comboni Missionaries - Kitchener, ON - An international Catholic organization dedicated to ministering to the world’s poorest and most abandoned people, often working in unstable political climates, in the midst of extreme poverty. 

Doctors without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Canada - Toronto, ON - Links medical humanitarian activities around the world and a network of supporters, humanitarians and medical professionals in Canada who help make this work possible. 

Eagles Nest - Waterdown, ON - Helps people understand themselves, care for their mental health and learn new tools for healthy relationships. Offers counselling, coaching, support groups and programs to adults, youth, children and families. 

Farm Radio International - Ottawa, ON – Uses the radio to assist the hard work of African farming families to prosper and attain food security for themselves, their communities, and their countries. 

Farmland Legacies - Wynyard, SK - Works to alleviate hunger, holds farmland in trust, links land with farmers, and works with other organizations to promote and communicate sustainable values, thereby enhancing community life through regenerative agriculture. 

Food distribution programs - Burlington Food Bank, Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank, Canadian Food for Children, Good Shepherd Centres, 

Guelph Food Bank, Guelph, ON -  Food Bank  

House of Friendship - Kitchener, ON - Provides food, housing, addiction treatment and neighbourhood support to individuals and families. SSND also supports the Backpacks for Kids.

Ignatius Jesuit Centre - Guelph, ON - Cultivates spiritual growth and an ecological way of life through their programming.

L’Arche, Hamilton - Hamilton, ON - People with and without intellectual disabilities sharing life together in their homes, neighbourhoods, schools, workplaces and community.  They strive to create a city where everyone belongs.

Missionaries of Africa  - Montréal, Quebec - Work to improve the living conditions of people in Africa often in dangerous situations.  

Neighbour to Neighbour - Hamilton, ON - Works to improve the quality of life in the community by offering access to tutoring programs for children, community kitchen programs, utility subsidy programs, family counselling, emergency food access and a host of other interventions. 

On Eagle’s Wings - Edmonton, AB - An ecumenical Christian ministry that proclaims Jesus Christ and serves the Church and individuals in remote and isolated areas of northern Canada. They serve the First Nations and Inuit people of the North.

One Child Network - Markham, ON - Empowers children and youth to take action against the sexual exploitation of children, including child sex trafficking, through prevention education, advocacy and mobilization, survivor care, and survivor empowerment. 

Ramoth Life Centre - Mount Forest, ON - Supports young women, during their pregnancy and following birth, through encouragement and practical support such as developing the life skills needed to end the cycle of hurt and poverty. 

Romero House - Toronto, ON - A community of welcome and accompaniment for newly arrived refugee claimants in Toronto offering transitional housing and immigration and settlement support. 

Roncalli International Foundation - Montréal, Quebec - Empowers disadvantaged populations in developing countries, through partnerships and projects, to improve living conditions and self-sufficiency. 

Save the Mothers - Ancaster, ON - Trains local leaders in the developing world to reduce maternal mortality within their own countries. 

SOPAR - Gatineau, Quebec- Enables people and organizations to create long-lasting change in India’s poorest communities through their development programs.

St. John the Compassionate Mission - Toronto, ON - Dedicated to outreach and care for vulnerable individuals and families in Toronto.

St. Mary of Egypt  - Queensboro, ON - Creates a home in the countryside where people in need can experience safety and community as they regain strength and build healthy lives. 

The Working Centre - Kitchener, ON - Give people access to practical tools to create their own work combined with continuous ways of learning and co-operating. 

Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region - Kitchener, ON - Empowers and supports women and children to move beyond violence by providing safe shelter, education, transitional housing and outreach services.  

World Vision Canada - A global relief, development and advocacy organization helping the world’s most vulnerable girls and boys overcome poverty and experience fullness of life. 

WNED – Buffalo, NY٠Toronto, ON – A binational public broadcasting organization operating three television stations and three radio stations, all locally programmed.
