Earlier this spring, Deirdre Pike, SSND Associate (34 years!) had the privilege of traveling to Ottawa for a climate justice advocacy effort on Canada’s Parliament Hill. Working with the Office of Religious Congregations for Integral Ecology (ORCIE), Deirdre was one of eight people of various congregations who made the trip to the capital for 3 days.
As a young girl Sister Mary Jane was inspired to become a nurse by the Public Health Nurses she encountered during her mother's extended illness. This experience proved significant and Sister Mary Jane became a licensed RN in 1970 from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Her care for others was evident in all she did through many years of service in Baltimore and Florida. May Mary Jane rest in peace.
